A cashier at dollar tree was super rude to me with no provocation. Slamming my stuff down and making a production when I hit the wrong button, muttering curse words. I didn’t say anything — I can’t imagine how miserable her job is. As we walked out my kid commented, and I said it seems like she’s having a rough day. We talked about how both of us have rough days sometimes too.
John Oliver's most recent show was about Dollar General and Dollar Tree. They are the worst to work for. I have a lot of sympathy for them but if an employee had acted that way to me I would have walked out or demanded my money back right there. I think the Post had an article about the shoplifting problem across the country and the data didn't support what the stores are saying except in certain areas. The big stores have training about this and demand their employees be non confrontational but a lot of the employees want to play cop and cross lines. There has been more violence in stores as customers get angry about how they are treated.
