Humans are nuts, period.  I don't think we have more than our fair share of wackos per capita.  One question is our access to guns and how much easier wackos have it if they want to cause major harm.

What's crazy, though, is people who now won't go to movie theaters--but they will light up a cigarette.  Or go to a tanning booth.  All the daily behaviors that are eventually going to kill them.  And yet they're much more afraid of the one in a zillion event like a movie theater massacre.

In the post 9/11 period, I worked with a woman who was a heavy smoker.  She was in her 50s and already suffering the effects of it.  However, she was much more afraid of terrorists and went out and bought a special chemical hood to wear in case of attack.  She went to trainings on how to use it and told me how she'd asked whether she could take it off to smoke as needed when wearing in during a suspected attack.  [/quote]
