NP here. Sarah MacLean is a friend. She is incredibly smart and a graduate of both Harvard and Smith. She can write anything, but through romance she has the ability to write a woman-centric story that is both hopeful and empowering.

Lisa Kleypas, graduate of Wellesley, writes beautifully.

Eloisa James. Graduate of Yale and Harvard, and a Shakespearean scholar, married to a Dante scholar.

And as mentioned upstream, many romance authors were lawyers. Julia Quinn was pre-med at Harvard before writing her first romance.

I love Sarah Maclean. Tell her I said I'm a huge fan.  Also love Lisa Kleypas, though she hasn't seem to written any recent historical novels.  Also, please ask her when her next book is coming out, and report back. TIA!!  I gorge on her books.  When I found her books, I think I binge read them via my Amazon Prime accounts and whatever I could find in the library.

I did not know about their education background, but it makes sense. Their books are well written, and SM books especially have strong female characters. I always look forward to her books.

Also, who the heck cares if they are trashy novels.  I want to be entertained (and turned on).  Real life is depressing enough (just watch the news, especially now).  I'm looking for an escape when I read these books, and I love it.[/quote]
