It’s a totally made up thing that exists almost exclusively only on this website I think, so sure why not.
No, it's not. The W has been a thing way before DCUM even existed, even before civilian use of the internet.
Perhaps. But I have never once heard it mentioned or discussed outside of this website. And I’ve lived in the DMV for over 20 years and MoCo for over 12.
I grew up here and attended MCPS. The term was used in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. The old Woodward with neighborhoods such as Luxmanor and Farmland was considered a W school. The boundary selection will determine if Woodward will be considered a W again. If diversity is the objective, then no, it will not be a W school. As a pp correctly pointed out, the land was donated for educational purposes by the Woodward family. The name will remain with the school.
My understanding is they are using Woodward as an opportunity to adjust all boundaries of nearby schools to help diversify many of the less diverse ones.
They’re not messing with Whitman or Churchill, are they?
The #1 priority of the boundary study was to improve diversity and those are the least diverse schools...
The #1 priority of the boundary study was to relieve overcrowding. Diversity was one of the factors considered, but this repeat poster has their own agenda and their own little fantasy world.
This is inaccurate. No one factor was prioritized over the others. “The Districtwide Boundary Analysis is an initiative designed to provide a comprehensive assessment of Montgomery County Public School boundaries by analyzing various data points such as school facility utilization and capacity, student demographics, and school assignment and travel patterns.”
