Hi OP! I hear voices like you described, but only when I’m falling asleep. Men, women, old, young - and saying very random and somewhat mundane things like “Next Wednesday, maybe” or “Try the red one” or “Sure beats last time,” or “Let’s consider it.” Like regular normal phrases. They never talk “to” me, it’s like I’m overhearing snippets of conversations. It’s gone on for years, and I’ve always just chalked it up to our brains belng weird. I have no other medical or mental health issues that I’m aware of. Good luck with your situation.
I get these too! Right on the cusp of falling asleep, when I’m in a state of deep body relaxation. More when I’m extremely tired and sleep-deprived like with jet lag. I read that they’re called hypnogogic (sp?) hallucinations and are not uncommon. Mine are totally random voices saying random thing, like spinning the dial on talk radio stations. One time I heard my late mom calling my name. That was special as I hadn’t heard her voice in a long time.
