How long does/did it take for your kid? My DS was state mathcounts top 10 and Jmo qualifier last year. Still said he can learn new things in function class, which is like the first-ever experience in math class since K. His friends and math teammates said about the same experience. They are enjoying it so far.[/quote]

DP here. Not sure why you need to brag on this forum, and before you say you were just answering,  you and I know full well that this was a highly unusual answer and a flex. If it actually is 20min, it is early days. Your highly prepped/enriched kid is probably reviewing.  He also may be doing some of the work in other classes or embellishing to feed his tiger mom's ego/expectations. 
For mine (coming in w/no math enrichment,  just mcps math), it varied between 1-4 hours. The 4 was when they went down a wormhole on deep, complicated problems. This was at Blair 4 years ago. I think the class was more intense then than it is now, but not sure. The main teacher (S), who was always fantastic,  became more sensitive to student mental health during covid. So, wondering if that had a lasting impact. Also,  another teacher (K) taught 1 quarter back in my kid's day, and that was less intense,  and I think he took over as the main teacher recently. So, older experiences may not be that accurate to now.[/quote]
