[/quote] Perhaps it's "urban legend", but as I wondered the same when I first moved to NoVa from the beautiful "Soccer is a Fall Sport" part of the country, I was told that many years ago the HS soccer coaches were fed up with football getting the Friday night lights field time (and maybe practice time too?) - so they voted to move it to spring, where there was no such competition.
