I'm a white upper middle class male who has always voted Democrat, and raised my 16 yo teenage daughter to have the same values. She has said numerous things to indicate her political and personal sympathies lie with being Conservative. Should I divorce my kid? Refuse to pay for her college?
Why are you equating parenting to marriage? They are not the same.
My friend's daughter was like this through high school. Then she went to college and did a hard left turn. That is why conservatives fear education. She volunteers regularly now in Democrat campaigns.
I’m happy for her. We’ll see how that serves her
Well since she wants control over her own body and healthcare, it will "serve" her well.
I'm the OP. My daughter (16) says people shouldn't be having sex unless they're ready to have a baby. That's how a woman can have control over her body. (*These are her views, not her parent's.)
You need to explain rape to her before she gets to college. A whole new class of freshmen girls are getting drunk at frat parties and getting raped. She needs to learn not to judge those who become unintentionally pregnant. If she eventually marries will she only have sex when she intends to become pregnant? She’s shockingly naive for 16.
This right here. She sounds like a naive 16 year old sheltered girl who doesn't realize a random guy could decide to rape her at any time, a boyfriend could date rape her, or she could get drugged. It doesn't just happen to "bad girls." A married adult mom friend of mine was drugged at a business networking event (not DC) and raped. She left her drink alone because she trusted her fellow male business owners. Thankfully she was on birth control and did not acquire an STD.
