Please don't send your dd to private school and then tell her she can't have the things that she needs to fit into said private school OP. It's not a good idea. If you really can't afford it, you can't afford it. But if you can, give her a chance to fit in. Otherwise, reconsider your selection of private school.
So you don’t want poor kids at your school and are happy to use lululemon to weed them out. Interesting strategy.
No, I am now an adult whose parents sent her to private school without thinking this through. I was friends with the other poorer kids and was always fussed at by my mom about why I wasn't making friends with the wealthier kids. The fact that I didn't have transportation to many school events or ECs or the "right" clothes or the ability to participate in the same leisure activities never occured to my parents. They had no idea what they signed up for. I see these threads pop up on recent topics. It's a common theme that parents don't even think about this, especially for girls. I see the same thing happening in wealthier public school districts as well, it's not just privates. Either you need to figure out how to reasonably try to find the funds or find a way to deal with the demands for clothing (buy used, buy neutrals) and high dollar activities. Or, talk to your daughter and let her know up front that this is life and her goal is to receive a good education at this school and that's the most you can provide for her in high school unless she gets a job to pay for everything else.
