Not that poster but we are also one of the most educated counties in the nation. So how did we allow the quality of life to degrade so much over the past 20 years? We have brains and money. But apparently not much common sense.
False premise.
+1000. What supposedly gave Bethesda such a better quality of life 20 years ago?
1. You could buy a home at 4x a mid-level person’s income. 2. The gangs from DC were not hanging out downtown and committing crimes. 3. There was a better ratio of services to people - ie, Pool not so crowded. 4. Less dense population; less school crowding. 5. Trees still existed along the trail between downtown and Connecticut. 6. The County did not have its tentacles into Bethesda - they left us alone (pre-Woodmont triangle plan and downtown Bethesda plan. 7. There were plenty of local restaurants. 8. We had great gas stations with knowledgeable repair people, a local variety store, and it did not cost $5 to buy a cookie on Bethesda Row. 9. We had fewer New Yorkers, people did not honk their horns. 10. Our taxes were 2/3 less than they are now.
