Agree with this. Julianne or Annelise or whatever called Annie may well shorten her own name to Ann/Anne as she gets older. That would be a natural switch. This is similar to the reason why we did not name our daughter a name we loved but for which I hated the most common nickname. I know I could be clear that it was (this isn't the name but an example) Alexandra and not Lexy, but I had zero control over whether she someday decided on her own to go by Lexy. Of course, I could name my daughter Amelia or Catherine or Larla and she could still go by Lexy, but much less likely.[/quote]
