OP, people are so obnoxious for making comments on what your children wear in a "I can't believe you're spending so much money" kind of tone. They're jealous. Sad, but true. I have a close friend whose kids pretty much only wear Janie and Jack. They always look ADORABLE, and I can't help but comment on how cute they look every time I see them! I love Janie and Jack's clothes. I don't have the money though to buy them on a regular basis. I splurge sometimes when something is really adorable, but otherwise I stay away. I wouldn't explain away why you spend a lot of money on your kid's clothes. It's no one's business what you spend. You obviously have the money to do it if that's where you're shopping, and it sucks that you feel like you have to make excuses for having the money to shop there for your kids. If I were you, I would just say "thanks" when people compliment their clothing or how cute they look. That's it. No explanation of what you bought on sale, etc. People shouldn't have to explain away why they have money -- it's not something you should feel guilty about.
We usually go there 3x a year, that's it. I only buy sale and together with what they get as gifts we're set. It's not really that expensive. Hanna Anderson I buy from Costco - we paid $12 for the PJs that cost $30 at the store. And they're washed day after day and look exactly the same. Jelly the Pug (another brand I love) and Tea we buy either from Nordstrom or Zulily kind of websites. In the end we spent less money if I went to Target and bought several of those Carter's outfits. And the line they make for Target is definitely a lower quality than what they have in their store. Anyway, I guess we'll just have to suck it up. If the person has a nice attitude I don't feel bad sharing we got a deal. The problem is the people who come with judgement in their comments. Those are so annoying!
