Why can't you just eat vegan for a week?
The point of a vacation is to have fun, and not being able to have ice cream, seafood, grilled meats, etc. is no fun.
Sorbet is awesome, you can grill tons of veggies as well as some fruits, and you can grill tofu. Surely you can't be so stupid as to think vegan people don't have fun on vacations.
Apologies, I should have ended my post with "to me." Doing without those food is no fun TO ME. Therefore I would never "just eat vegan for a week." Also tofu is just wretched.
I'm not the PP, but if I said "vacation isn't fun to me without alcohol" most people would stay that is disordered. If you cannot enjoy a vacation without ice cream, seafood, and grilled meat, that sounds like a you issue that you should maybe work on, rather than a pronouncement about what is and is not fun for other people. I'm not a fan of tofu myself, but it's absolutely ridiculous to suggest that there are no fun foods that don't involve animal products. Are you honestly sitting here saying that you do not enjoy ANY food that doesn't contain animal products? None? Zero?
NP - I enjoy plenty of foods that don't involve animal products. However, I am a very good cook, I (and my family) love to eat, and having meals we really enjoy is an integral part of vacation. When we go somewhere with a vibrant food culture, literally the first thing I do is figure out where and what we eat. When we go to a beach or ski house, I make means that we all like. So no, I'm not eating salads and tofu for my whole vacation. Could I? Sure. Will I? Absolutely not. I deserve to enjoy my vacation too. I agree with the PP, this is the dumbest post on this thread (and possibly imaginable).
I’m skeptical that you are such a foodie and yet apparently boil down vegan food to salad and tofu. Great cooks should be able to come up with a couple non meat and non dairy meals that are delicious.
