I spoke to a doctor recently and he told me that I'd need to stay on it for life to maintain the weight loss. That makes me hesitate. Though the quick loss and calming the noises in my head seems so appealing.
Since this has been around for awhile, my doc's office has had patients who were on it and have gone off and managed to maintain their weight for at least a year so far. I think an important part is sticking with the changes. I wonder if it takes a certain amount of time for the changes to become permanent or if you need to taper back down so that you get used to being off the meds and make the necessary adjustments. I don't know, but they have patients who have successfully transitioned off. It sounds like it is really person specific, like how some maintain loss after trying other methods and others gain weight back.
This, it’s like other weight loss methods in this way. If you stop the diet, you gain back the weight. And it’s harder if you’ve lost a lot.
