Lake Barcroft is very beautiful, but like the other neighborhoods, is surrounded by the most unattractive suburban sprawl. There are a some exceptions: The Moasic is a nice commercial neighborhood close to Holmes Run Acres. Lake Barcroft is not far from the attractive commercial areas in the City of Falls Church and Arlington. Hollin Hills is near Old Town Alexandria. People pay a hefty premium for that aesthetic. And most of the homes were designed by locally famous architects. But they are often sold as-is so expect to pay for a thorough renovation respectful of the architectural style. New kitchens are easily 100-200k. [/quote]
