Sorry, wrong quote. This is what I meant to post:
During a heatwave on April 14, Winch used a temperature monitor to check multiple SSIMS classrooms and said she found that not a single classroom measured below 84 degrees. Three third-floor classrooms hit 88 degrees, she told the crowd at the rally. While the AC is technically functional, Winch said it’s antiquated and doesn’t adequately circulate air.

It’s ridiculous- I thought they upgraded all the HVAC systems when they reopened after COVID. Air had to be circulated a certain number of times per hour, or something similar.
Nope, they wasted most of the covid money and did just enough for show. And air quality is different than ac.
McKnight needs to go. So do MANY central office employees. They focus on all of the wrong things...then they get the principals and AP's to focus on the wrong things and nothing gets done other than the attempt to micromanage on things that don't matter because that's apparently easier to tackle than the things that do matter. MCPS is a disaster this year. Been around for 17 years and this is the first year I've ever wanted to just walk away. Everything is hush-hush, they are only concerned about how things look, they try to micromanage classrooms (even planning meetings...come on), not because they care...because test scores are low. They think micromanaging a teacher's time will fix this. Hint: It won't. It will just piss people off more and they will move on. I know 7 teachers leaving next year. I'm not just because I'm trapped basically. This is not a way to live.
McKnight knows what to focus on. Yesterday she and BOE members went to a party and completely ignored the students in the hospital from the single vehicle school bus crash. Why care about those children? One or two that get injured or die are nothing in this county. Same with assaults, rapes or illness. What’s important are the parties.
OMG! How many kids died or are in critical condition?
