“Provincial” America? Haha.  Doctors aren’t making millions anywhere OP, even specialists.  The vast majority of physicians are hospital employees now also.  The only ones making millions would be the minority (by far) and have ownership of the endoscopy center, outpatient surgery center, a nursing home, or high end plastics.  A doctor salary of 500k in the Midwest maybe seems luxurious, especially compared to a doctors salary of 300k in DC.  But neither are living like  the Wolf of Wallstreet[/quote]

500k in a lower COL area buys the lifestyle that OP described. Why does that make you so angry? A 2 doctor household can easily make 600k-1M and that’s a lot of money everywhere in this country.[/quote]

I’m the PP you are responding to and not angry at all.  Just pointing out the reality of dr incomes, since OP seems delusional.  In fact, it describes my family’s income and I wouldn’t consider us lavishly wealthy.[/quote]
