OP, On DCUM, an MD degree is probably the least wealthy terminal degree you can have. DCUM has lobbyists, lawyers, business owners and top executives making 1m+ a year. My friend's BIL is a hedge fund manager working in NYC and living in Miami for tax purposes and he makes *insane* money. Hang your head in shame that you would hate on just that group that at least does something useful for its fellow human! Also, either these people are not as rich as you think, or they have other sources of wealth, or perhaps they're one of the rare doctors that own multiple practices... but otherwise, they're not making that kind of money. You've shown yourself to be extremely provincial and full of hateful ignorance. For shame, OP! You disgust me.
Do you seriously think I was not aware that hedge fund managers make more money? Thanks for educating me. I’m talking about provincial America and how doctors live very rich. And you are trying to convince me that giving 13 year olds thousands dollar designer purses is not that rich? You poor thing, don’t be so jealous of hedge fund managers.
“Provincial” America? Haha. Doctors aren’t making millions anywhere OP, even specialists. The vast majority of physicians are hospital employees now also. The only ones making millions would be the minority (by far) and have ownership of the endoscopy center, outpatient surgery center, a nursing home, or high end plastics. A doctor salary of 500k in the Midwest maybe seems luxurious, especially compared to a doctors salary of 300k in DC. But neither are living like the Wolf of Wallstreet
500k in a lower COL area buys the lifestyle that OP described. Why does that make you so angry? A 2 doctor household can easily make 600k-1M and that’s a lot of money everywhere in this country.
I’m the PP you are responding to and not angry at all. Just pointing out the reality of dr incomes, since OP seems delusional. In fact, it describes my family’s income and I wouldn’t consider us lavishly wealthy.
