It used to be fun to celebrate others people's success.   It's is like a toast to community as a whole to take a moment to be proud of a community members achievement.   Now, every one is just too sour to see beyond their own nose, to have fun and cheer for "the competition."[b] It's sad and selfish.[/b]  I personally don't need that much attention;but, I miss the warm community feeling.[/quote]

This and also, it’s not a zero sum game. Being surrounded by achievers motivates other kids to achieve at their own things. There is nothing wrong with a culture of achievement and excellence, it shows kids that they too can work hard and accomplish something.[/quote]
