That letter is so Mrs Smith, vague and overly perky.
Well, if you are not a fan, she will be gone after this year, so nothing more to worry about.
You must have missed the announcement that she is getting her doctorate and postponing her retirement.
If that's true, I did. When was it announced? Was there an email? I'll admit I don't read everything we get from her closely. Seems an odd move, although this probably means MCPS will pay for the degree.
She buried the lede in her weekly email from March 13
That she did. I'd love to know why she thinks her attending this program will help (at least in the short term) CCES students. It would seem likely that she would be pretty distracted by being in a PhD. program. And if it is that part-time a program, by the time she would finish it, she would almost certainly be ready to retire. When I completed my Bachelor and Master’s degree, I was ready for the doctoral program but life put that decision on the side for a while. In the past two weeks, an opportunity of a lifetime has presented itself to me, to work on my doctoral degree. This decision has been filled with a list of pros and cons yet my passion for learning is still front and center. I have been accepted into a doctoral program and I could not be more excited. With this decision, I knew that this will support CCES, or students, families, and staff so I am setting my retirement aside for now. My journey will always have CCES in the forefront. I look forward to applying my new found knowledge for our children.
