Our DD is 14. She started to breakout around 13 and the doctor started her on Winlevi. It worked well for a few months and then kind of stopped working. Her acne wasn't terrible but it really bothered DD. we are on month 3 of Accutane and her skin is almost perfect. Our dermatologist was basically like Accutane is the only thing that works long term so we went with it. She is on a 2omg dose and besides dry lips- she hasn't had any other side effects.
My daughter just started to get acne at 13 but her older sister had gone through a tough round of severe acne, tons of antibiotics, topicals, etc. ending in accutane. The dermatologist went immediately to accutane at age 14 for my second daughter and she now has the most gorgeous skin. Age 17. Like not even a blemish. It looks like a 4 year old’s skin. So glad we did it and didn’t wait for it to get really bad.
