In the past, APS always cited the need to stay competitive with the surrounding counties.  There are different ways to achieve this; salary, benefits, support system.   I cannot believe they can’t figure this out.[/quote]

APS has to pay more to be truly competitive because cost of living is higher in Arlington. Why would a teacher stay with APS when they can make the same pay in Loudoun or Fairfax without the commute? [/quote]
