So single digit acceptance rate? Whoohoo! Go USC!
It's still USC - the University of Spoiled Children that couldn't get into UCLA.
Nope. My child got into both and chose USC. Extraordinary place. Private, unlike UCLA which is an overwhelmingly large, public institution. Ask any college counselor and you'll hear it's a "reach for everyone." Top students at the top privates are rejected year after year. As hard to get into as an ivy, full of tremendous opportunities, well-funded, beautiful, dedicated faculty, and, yes, incredibly fun too. Widely considered a dream school and a reach for top students. If its not for you, fine, but to suggest its a fallback to UCLA or other public schools is just inaccurate.
USC is great. I do prefer UCLA. I think it’s a prettier campus, better located, and of course less expensive! Academics opportunities, reputation, and networking are excellent at both.
