If a school is a target, I would think your kid's stats are no higher than the 75th percentile for the school.  So why would yield protection come into play? [/quote]

I am referring to schools that ranks 40-50 like northeastern and case western for very high stats kids with SAT 1550+, most rigorous with 10+ AP [/quote]

Neither of these are a safety because they are known to yield protect.  I believe Case is also need aware.  In any case, for very high stat students, you would  need to ED to these schools.  There are plenty of schools that are similarly ranked that do not yield protect which would make much better choices as lsafeties.[/quote]
