Couldn’t resist some of the sweets at shiva, we made a pizza to bring. I had my 24 g and maybe a few over, but not bad overall. I drank only seltzer and had fruit and cheese to start but couldn’t resist two cookies and a small slice of babka. I kept it under control and didn’t spoil my day completely. We said goodbye by sharing our memories with his family. Very sad. Thank you for all the support. I know I’m doing better with this thread.
Good job OP! This thread came at such a good time. I broke down and ate a Girl Scout cookie but didn’t go crop binge, so that’s pretty good. I wish there were real life groups for accountability that weren’t tied to specific programs like WW or something. I’d love a group of people trying to cut back on sugar
Great job keeping the cookie eating to a reasonable amount. Sugar is really tempting. I don’t drink or smoke but sugar gives me insight into what irresistible feels like. I think the trick really is to practice stopping at a reasonable amount. Like any addiction, the temptation is to indulge in excess but you can enjoy a sweet treat without going overboard. Well, I’m practicing anyway. Day 8 for me. Probably went over my goal 2x, but only by small amounts and never anything close to the general 50g recommended added sugar amount. Today I have a birthday party for my niece. My brother is a dedicated baker and I won’t be able to say no to a slice of cake without being rude. So, the plan is no added sugar all day and a small piece of cake which should be about the whole 24 g. I guess the real goal is to stop sugar binges where I would eat 3-4 servings of candy. I honestly believe that tracking added sugar and keeping to < 25 g is one of the easiest ways to clean up your diet. Tracking it is fairly simple and you have to avoid a lot of processed food to do it.
