Virtually all the violent crime in Ward 3 in the past two years has occurred on or within a block or two of Connecticut, Wisconsin, or Massachusetts avenues: https://crimecards.dc.gov/all:violent%20crimes/with%20any%20or%20no%20weapon/2:years/in:Ward:3 Any crime is bad, no matter where it happens, and a lot of people live on or near those streets, so obviously that puts a lot of people very near some very dangerous incidents. Still seems like useful context in discussing overall crime patterns.
This confirms that the pattern of crime is consistent with areas of higher residential density and also importantly, transit. It’s notable that there is not a single crime in Spring Valley. Is it rational for them to object to further residential density? I think so.
