Cheviot Hills is lovely but there's no store / grocery/ cafe etc for literally miles, so it's a 100% drive only neighborhood which can be depressing.[/quote]

If that's your criteria, you'll want to live in a place like Westwood south of Santa Monica Blvd, where you can walk to Westwood Blvd to the west, Century City Mall to the east and Pico Blvd to the south. I don't know many people who regularly walk to the grocery store in LA, though. If you really want to avoid that, just shop at Gelson's in Century City Mall before leaving work for home and you don't have to rely upon being in comfortable walking distance to a grocery store for the neighborhood you choose.[/quote]
