Does your child like school socially? I worry it is too isolated. Seems like the fun would be at UMass Amherst and that would clearly not be a walk to get over there. Also what kind of internships did your child secure while there. We want to be open to other parts of the country but also want to make sure we don’t get an “I am bored” call a few months in when tbe fun seems to be large schools. Thoughts?
Ours decline Amherst after visiting, it felt remote, looked great for summer but not for winter, athlete- non athlete divide was clear and division of dorms according to race/sexual orientation etc felt odd and last but not least their full pay cost is too high. That being said, if you feel comfortable going there and get financial aid, its a great school and can hook you up with many opportunities. Their alumni is small in numbers but truly like a cult and very well placed in world.
wait what? Is there a racial divide on dorms? That cannot be true. This would be a no go if true. I am actually doubting this. Can someone shed light?
