The PTSD caused by the abuse.

I think that it is sometimes really hard to balance a person's autonomy to make bad/dumb decisions with what degree of external control is appropriate for a grown woman. Britney became famous when she was a teenager and her adult life had all the same restrictions she had as a teenager. There was nowhere within that where she could mature and develop. [/quote]

It’s sad but I don’t think it is that hard to balance - someone who is not an immediate threat to themselves or others should not be forced to take medications that they don’t want.  Just like you’re allowed to not treat your diabetes or cancer….others can think it’s an awful choice and is the wrong answer but no one would force treatment on them[/quote]
