I really like the suggestion someone made of bringing a puzzle. That would be something people could do with OP off and on, wouldn't require discussion or a lot of time, but could give the bond of doing something together.

It feels like a lot of people here have never been stuck in a room for hours as the only one who speaks a different language. It's not the same thing as going to a party and choosing not to participate. It's more like going to a pool party with no swimsuit (or you cant get in the water for some other reason). You don't want to demand other people get out of the pool to entertain you, but it's boring af to sit there and watch people but not be able to interact with them. No one's going to give you grief if you entertain yourself. [/quote]
