Is this thread filled entirely with mothers in law? Because that’s what it sounds like. It’s not 1950.
I'm 38 and think grown ups wearing pajamas in public is gross, lazy, and ugly. I also think its disrespectful in some ways. And shows your kids that its ok to put minimal effort in to your life. These aren't traits I would admire. Get dressed before you leave your house or else you will be judged.
Why would the judgment of random people at school drop-off have any meaning to me? Some people are still stuck in a middle school mentality, it seems.
A couple of comments here. First, school isn't random. Its families of your kids friends, teachers and staff with meaningful roles in your kids lives and other parents in the same phase of life as you that you may wish to connect with. Its the opposite of random. Second, OP is literally asking the opinion of random strangers on the internet. And she is getting it. Third, I see a lot of middle schoolers wearing pajamas so not sure your analogy works. To me when I see grown ups in pajamas I think they are stuck in middle school and unable to be responsible and presentable like an adult! Fourth, there is a really wide range between pajamas and impeccable. Pick something just slightly above pajamas if you dont want pity or judgement.
Nope, don't care about what other parents think about me. They're not my friends (and my friends wouldn't care if they saw me in super-casual clothes). Administrators and teachers couldn't care less what parents are wearing in the morning. Again, why would I care if my morning outfit bothers you? You're not a potential sexual partner, and you don't pay my paycheck. In video-game terms, you're an NPC. Only really shallow people with too much time on their hands care about any of this.
