Since when is Joe Biden a progressive? You all really have Fox living in your head if you think "the progressives" are ruling the roost. And frankly, I will take universal healthcare over evangelical fascism 7 days out of 7. Why do you prefer fascism?
The progressives in DC and NYC spent the past two years pushing for bike lanes. All while Rome burned. If the ANCs used half the time they spent on bikes instead on schools and crime this would be a world class city. Instead it’s been two years of bike lanes and weed dispensaries. The Ds will now suffer generational losses at the polls. https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/04/politics/eric-adams-new-york-crime-midterms/index.html
What, exactly, do you think ANCs can do about schools and crime? They are not the mayor, they are not the school board and they are not the police force. I will be very interested in your response.
They could hold up the upzoning, which the mayor wants, until schools etc is addressed. Instead they traded that for bike lanes. It's the exact same lever.
+1000. But most of the ANC reps don’t and will never have kids. They literally have no idea what a crap show DCPS is and how they could help their community. All they want is these ridiculous bike lanes and pot dispensaries. Please go back to Petworth and live your progressive dreams. FFS.
It is also important to consider how many of these childless ANC commissioners will even stay in DC over the short, medium or long term. A decent percentage of ANC commissions from 2012 don’t live in the city any more. Imagine applying that sort of short-term decision making focused on yourself as a temporary, young, single and childless resident over the needs of long term residents and families. https://www.dcboe.org/dcboe/media/PDFFiles/nr_849.pdf
If you didn't run for ANC and are making these kinds of charges and hyperbole, then you are the problem. How is it that in competitive races, the people who favor density and bike lanes keep winning? It is rather a question.
Because most of Ward 3 are hard working two professional married couples. They don’t pay attention to the ANCs or the city council for that matter. In a one party town you just need 25 signatures to gat on the ballot. That’s not a mandate, son. Just because you got a participation trophy in 3rd grade rec soccer doesn’t get you on the varsity team.
You think there aren't hard working people in all the other wards? You think the people on ANCs don't have families and jobs? I guess you are too special to understand that the people who do this actually care about their communities and want to help other people. But that isn't surprising coming from someone with your salty outlook on things.
