I’m surprised that so many people have such fond memories of high school. Homecoming was a big deal where I went to high school at a big suburban school in the Midwest. I don’t know what my problem was, but I hated the school spirit stuff and the parade and the mandatory participation in pep rally’s. I didn’t realize that so many people loved it and genuinely thought it was fun. I thought most people just kind of grudgingly accepted most of it.
Why would they continue to have things that most kids didn't love?
Because they always did it that way, the kids that kind of ran the school loved it, and the teachers/administrators loved it. Schools do a lot of things that students don’t love and aren’t in the best interest of the students. Do most students really love pep rallies?
