Why would you bring your dog to the grocery store unless it’s a service dog? It makes NO sense and is gross…I don’t want your animal around food I might buy (or around me and my kids: my daughter is terrified of dogs, after having been bitten once and if she was w me in a store and saw a dog she’d freak out and we’d probably leave).
Once, after taking my dog to the vet, I had to go to a CVS pharmacy. I did not want to leave the dog in the car. IIRC, I brought the dog into CVS, but its a small dog and it was in a crate. This was a few years ago. If it happened today, I’d probably take the dog in just on its leash. Otherwise, I leave my dogs at home, but they are neither trained nor well behaved. I’ve been lucky that the dogs I’ve seen out have all been well-behaved.
