I am a stay at home mom and not everyone stays home by choice. Some are out of work and for some, depending on where you live, with the cost of childcare, it makes more sense to stay home. I resent the implication that all direct sales people are pushy stay at home moms and that you are funding their leisurely life. First some use this is a side job and actually have other jobs as well. Second, staying home is hard work. I've read comments about people saying they'd rather give their friends money. If you are in a financial situation where you need a little extra every month are you really going to run to your friends with your hand out or find a way to earn the money? I can't believe how many people are unwilling to support their friends. Who are they supposed to invite to these parties, strangers off the street? If you don't want anything that's fine but be a pal and spread the work, invite another friend or co-worker, attend so they have some bodies there, talk up some of the pieces to someone else at the party (be their wingman), borrow a piece when you go somewhere nice and refer them to your friend when people ask. I find it really hard to believe you can't find a single thing that you like but either way, you can support your friend in their new venture without buying anything. In addition to the ways above you can host a no-buy, just try party. I attended one of these and it was super fun. The whole point was to see the stuff, have some fun but not buy anything. You couldn't even if you wanted to. If you wanted something you could contact her another day. My point, if they are really your friend, you will find a way to support them that works for you. And no I am not a direct sales person.
