I mean, they’ve suggested they will go to war over this. They’ve been waiting for an appropriate justification to settle the Taiwan issue for years, more acutely the last few years. Is that not a risk? I don’t know if they will or they won’t (and neither do you) but pretty sure if this were anyone but Pelosi the Left would be going nuts about such a unilateral provocation from a member of congress.

And to what end? You say this is “genius” because PRC are “making themselves look like fools and driving away potential allies.”

Which potential allies? Can you name one? Do they look more foolish than a Government whose same party President said it was a bad idea, then kind of retracted that invisibly amidst bouts of Covid, then the State Dept. says they can’t control where she goes? Yet she’s third in line to the Presidency? I’d be embarrassed if my country club leadership were so fumbling and disorganized. [/quote]
