My impression of St. Andrews is that it is a warm environment; has good teaching; modestly successful but fun sports opportunities (it is small and co-ed so it doesn't have the same size pool of athletes as the bigger or single-sex schools); and is seen as a less demanding alternative (both in terms of admissions and the rigor of the curriculum) than the DC privates and Holton.[/quote]
