All of Wegmans sushi is gluten free!
No soy sauce?
Not all of Wegmans sushi options are gluten-free bcs of cross contamination due to the inclusion of the rice crispies that they add to rolls and sprinkle on top of rolls. Also the mock-crab that they use is not gluten-free. Wegmans labels will say 'no gluten-containing ingredients' this does not mean the item is gluten-free.
Additionally, soy sauce contains wheat. Any dish made with soy sauce is not gluten-free.
Wegmans uses gf soy sauce. I’m hyper careful about cross contamination and have never gotten sick there. I’m guessing the crisped rice is gf as well. Yes some have barley malt in them, but not all do. I don’t like California rolls (princess because I was avoiding the mock crab other places) so haven’t checked on the validity of their claims. But they do say it’s all gf. I’m guessing they’ve found alternatives. All of the labeling is clear. If it was elsewhere I’d agree though. I’ve been gluten-free for about 15 years so I’m pretty good with checking ingredient labels on everything even if it claims it’s gluten-free. Will also check gluten-free watched dog in regards to Wegmans.
