I'm curious how the waitlist moved for everyone. What number did the Claremont waitlist get to after decision were due?
We moved about 10 slots on Claremont. Not as many as I would have expected.
People are desperate to get out of their overstretched neighborhood schools. Clarement filters for engaged parents first step.
I’m not sure that’s true. For the others, I’ll buy that, but not for immersion. If parents are expecting a better experience at Claremont due to less perceived overcrowding, I think they also need to factor in the fact that immersion is very different and not a good fit for all kids and, probably more importantly, their parents. Kids could fall behind in other subjects as they get into 2nd or 3rd grade if their language skills are not developing well. And for English parents who do not speak Spanish, it’s hard to help them on a daily basis with those studies. Neither 20 kids in a class versus 28 isn’t going to allow give one on one attention to those struggling with language.
