I see this is a zombie thread, but I'll put in my 2c. I was out of the fashion/shopping loop for a few years until I needed a whole bunch of new clothes recently. Saw Madewell was highly recommended for curvier figures-- not plus sized per se but a small waist/big hips. I found a couple pair on ThredUp and the thrift store and they are great, but I never actually browsed their store or site until just now. I'd say their clothes are boring at best. More of the same loose, drab stuff that's everywhere right now (apparently partly d/t supply chain issues, believe it or not). I was in a shopping district on a business trip last week and had wanted to hit their store, but now I see I'm not missing anything.
Just checked Everlane's site (also had been unfamiliar with them) and they look essentially the same. Blah.
Hm. J Crew same. Banana Republic only slightly more interesting. I've been shopping mid range designers via consignment stores (which means a lot is not this season, either), so I don't know, but... is there any chain store that's doing anything interesting? I know they're chains, so things are almost necessarily watered down, but the clothes I just saw were so bland and uninspired they were almost invisible. I could swear I used to get some fun or at least CUTE things at Gap, etc., but I'm not seeing it now.
free people
