Because parents here are acting like it's no big deal.  So why would I go out of my way to be a good citizen?  I'm missing work, opportunities, etc. Our school says he can come back when he reaches a certain benchmark, which he has. Ordinarily I would still keep him home if he was still coughing and snotty but nope - I'm sending him back.[/quote]

OP you sound like a real nut.  Your kid coughed hard a few times - that doesn't mean he was on the verge of hospitalization.  There are VERY few hospitalization due to covid at the moment...despite there being this crazy contagious variant.
