I often see the Door Dash food sitting on racks waiting for pickup in restaurants where the food should be eaten while hot. Why do people order food, pay a premium to get it delivered, only to get ice cold ruined food? I don't see why anyone would not only use it but pay extra for cold food.
Some of us live in redlined areas and third party delivery services are our only option. I don't like waiting an hour for cold food, but in my neighborhood it's that or nothing.
I would take a shitty frozen pizza over $$$ cold shitty food I waited an hour for. There are always other options than being ripped off and getting garbage food at the same time.
It's midnight, you don't have a frozen pizza in the fridge, you have had a few drinks so you can't do pickup, you live at 47th and Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave NE. That's my situation when I order Door dash or Uber eats. Tell me, what are my other options?
Oh, I don’t know, maybe eating dinner at a reasonable time so you’re not hungry for a full meal at midnight? Just spitballing here.
Mmmkay, MeeMaw.
Right? All these people commenting "go to bed" fundamentally misunderstand the concept of delivery. When I want food at midnight it's because I just got home from a social situation and am going to be up at least a few more hours. "Just don't eat" isn't an option. Clearly they can't comprehend anyone with different schedules or lifestyles from them so I'll translate it to rich stay at home mom: "Imagine it's 4:00pm and you just got Jayyyd3n and L@r1a home from Cantonese language interpretive dance. Your built-in Sub-Zero has broken and there's nothing to eat. There's a gas leak on Wisconsin Ave and your Postmates can't pick up your organic kale from Whole Foods. Do you just go to sleep, or do you pay to get Le Diplomate delivered?"
C- for the creative writing effort. The PP said they had a few drinks and it was late. It's not that deep. Going to bed is always an option. This isn't a woe is me, it's just the usual poor planning and bad decision making. But if people want to pay top dollar for cold soggy food, nobody is trying to stop them. But the "oh no what else could I possibly do" is pathetic.
