I had a terrible experience once with this...I was hosting a candidate who flew out to our corporate headquarters to interview. Due to logistics, she had to bring her luggage to the office. She was carrying a LV roller bag and a LV Neverfull for as a carry on bag. It was too much. Honestly, the branded luggage was a distraction from her qualifications and I felt badly for her. She did not get the job. It was a know your audience type of thing.
If it had been Tumi or Rimowa, it would have been totally fine. LV was just too logo-ish & considered showy by some of the executives who were interviewing her.
I hope her luggage wasn't the deciding factor for not hiring her. It wasn't her fault she had to take it to the interview and if she'd been able to ditch it at a hotel first, you'd have never know whether she was rolling around with LV, samsonite, sherpani or the Target special.
x100000 I think some people never learn this very important pice of information - whether at work, or in the grocery. That lady next to in sweats (without logos) might be worth ten or a hundred times you and your Neverfull. Your boss might be like other PP - or your coworker who doesn't "need" the job. Don't embarrass yourself. Do people even carry purses any more?
