Local health guidance is going to end mask mandates in another 10 days.  Good for them to get in front of it.  ADW should be ready to drop masks the moment moco drops the mandate in all indoor spaces.  Regardless, private schools are not under the same guidelines as public schools with regard to masks.[/quote]

But it’s the Archdiocese of WASHINGTON as in Washington DC - not Baltimore or Arlington.  Like it or not DC is where you have to look for health guidance.  Last time you all tried this petition it was an absolute fail.[/quote]

ADW schools in MOCO do not have to wait for mask mandate to be dropped.  There are private schools in MOCO that have already made masks optional and it is perfectly legal due to the fact that private schools are not part of the indoor mask mandate.[/quote]

No, but they generally are obliged to follow guidance issued by the ADW school office or superintendent or whatever.  Now they may well advise that mask mandates can be dropped per county guidance...or they may tell them masks are still to be worn, per ADW schools guidance.

And some Catholic schools of course are not "ADW" schools, they could do what they want I guess.[/quote]

You are partly right. They are obliged to follow ADW guidance, however, ADW is not obliged to follow county indoor mask mandates.  The issue will be moot once the county's mandate ends on Feb. 21 anyway.  I have a high confidence ADW will drop the mandate by the end of February.  They are feeling a lot of pressure from parents.

You are also right that the schools that are not ADW can do as they want -- and they are.  Good Council and Georgetown Prep are both dropping their mandates.[/quote]

Mayor Bowser just put out an order today specifically stating that masks will still be required in schools after March 1st.  [/quote]
