From aerial view:  video starts with Blake player (black jersey) on ground.  Gets up and pushes Churchill player (white jersey) out of bounds.   Churchill player chases Blake player down court and cold cocks him in side of head.  Players tumble into stands.  Then you can see a parent (I'm assuming Churchill parent based on what happens next) comes barreling down the stands (you can see him sitting in top row on left hand side - he jumps up and runs down steps onto court - has red mask and jacket on).  At same time, what appears to be Blake coach runs across court and gets in melee.  Churchill parent ends up pulling Blake coach out of the melee and as they approach center court tangled up together, Blake player (orange shoes) out of nowhere sucker punches Churchill parent who falls at center court as crowd goes "whoaaa!!"....

Pretty nice high school game environment MCPS has these days....

They all were bad. Churchill player threw the first punch. Blake side fought back. Parents who got involved - unreal. Player injured on the ground at the end of one clip. Everyone lost their freaking minds and no one could reign it in.

Were there any fights when spectators weren’t allowed? I don’t think so.

Restorative Justice - BS. Physical assaults deserve real punishment. In my day, being an athlete was a privilege that you earned. There’s no room in athletics for that type of behavior and to not take swift and harsh action sends a message to both school communities that fighting is tolerated. It was tolerated for football games and now it’s tolerated for basketball.

And no, the Churchill administrators should not be patting themselves on the back for a job well done.

If it was a foul, let the Blake player get a technical. That didn’t justify the Churchill player sucker punching the Blake player. To me it looked like the Blake player was just being aggressive in the game. Not the same as a punch.[/quote]

The Blake players hit was so hard it could be heard on the video. No whistle. Play continued. [b]Each team already had 6 technicals. [/b]The referees were letting these players beat the crap out of each other. The game was out of control long before the brawl and that was the fault of the referees and coaches.[/quote]

This is the first I've heard of that!

That's unreal.

Some people approach basketball like Rugby, and that's the coaches to blame.

If 6 technicals had already been called, then the refs were doing all they could short of stopping the game.  Which, in hindsight, might have been the right decision.  But they would have been destroyed if they had taken preventative action like that[/quote]
