The '90's had the end of the Cold War and there was almost no threat of widespread extremist Islamist terrorism. While there was a recession, the economy was mainly good and there was progress on women's rights, civil rights for gays, etc. I was 19 when the Berlin wall fell and the next decade + felt like a rocketship towards the future. That rocketship was blown out of the sky on 9/11/01 and every attempt at a re-start has blown up on the launch pad.[/quote]
