She said she notices it now because she's not as watched and can be a watcher. I noticed this sh1t when I was a preschooler and saw how men acted to my beautiful mother. I think some women who are really attractive think men are nice to them for reasons other than their looks. (Like the women who say it’s so much easier to be “friends” with guys, um, that’s cause they’re trying to get in your pants....)  When they lose those looks, and have to adjust to men treating them dismissively as not particularly attractive middle aged women, they see the sexism more clearly.
