I would protest vote for Denise and this point and I don’t even like her.
It’s weird how offended some people are, at least from comments I’ve seen on the New Hill East Facebook group page, about her seemingly vigilant attitude towards crime. Her stance is essentially, punish those who commit crime. I agree with that. I’m sorry if people who mug others go to jail. That’s life. If you don’t arrest criminals, what is the incentive for people not to commit crime? Denise was particularly aggressive in trying to obtain DOJ crime stats after that woman was raped and attacked in her home in SE with her kids at home. I think the guy who did this terrible act was a product of the Youth Rehabilitation Act of which Charles Allen was a proponent. I like DC, but I am getting fed up with this liberal, self-flagellating approach to addressing rising crime. Naysayers will add annoying comments like: “this is nothing! Go to the suburbs! You should have seen it in 1990!!!!” I did see it. It was bad. Why do we want to return to that?
Totally agree with all of this. I would vote for Denise if she ran against Allen but they're trying to push her house out of ward 6. Seems like suspiciously good timing for Allen. I am fed up with coddling woke activists who think "prisons don't work". Yeah they do, we need to take violent people off the street and show them there are consequences.
