I’m pregnant with twin girls and I think we are going with Madeleine and Genevieve. But it’s so hard to choose.. it took us forever to pick these two!
Dp. They are great names but wanted to give you a head's up. In the Madeline books she has a dog named Genevieve. My dd is Madeleine and we got the Madeline books as a gift.
Why would that be a heads up? My kids would love it if they were characters in the same book, especially one as charming as Madeline.
That’s great for Madeline, but how would Genevieve feel having the “dog name?”
DP. Another heads up is that, fair or not, if the PP isn’t a francophone, people will call her pretentious.
Hey it’s the previous poster here, thanks so much for the heads up about the book! I did know already but don’t think it’s a big deal. I’m responding to the person who’s says I’m pretentious, why is that? We chose these names because they have cutesy, girly nickname potential for little kids but then professional sounding names as adults. I know plenty of people use these names these days, are they all pretentious too or is it the combo? I’m genuinely curious bc my husband and I come from lower middle class families and don’t really want to give our kids names that the family will make fun of behind our backs or something. For what it’s worth, we do both speak French though we aren’t from France or anything like that.
I didn’t say you’re pretentious, I said that people will call you pretentious.
