1 is a teacher work day for end of quarter planning and grades 
2 is Election Day, always off

This is not new. LCPS has ALWAYS, ALWAYS has the Friday the quarter ends for PD and the Monday after the quarter ends for grades and conferences. Literally always. You are in all actuality very upset only about 2 new days, the 3rd and 5th. The others would always have been off in any other year. And the issue of having the 3rd and the 5th be in person isn’t even on teachers taking those days - it’s that the subs won’t pick those days up. If there’s coverage, teachers being out is a non issue. There is no coverage though because we are low on subs and the ones we have won’t pick up the inconvenient days. We also are low on bus drivers. When you don’t have the appropriate number of staff, no day will be “acceptable” to take leave but there wasn’t anything inherently wrong with teachers taking the 3/5 and why Ziegler didn’t have to mention it until last week when they realized SUBS wouldn’t cover.
