Fatal drunk driving accidents;
1980: 28,000
1997: 16,000
2019:  10,000

In 2019 2,000 were teens. 1,000 died prom/graduation/homecoming (60% had no seatbelt)

10 percent of teenage driver deaths were the result of distracted driving. Drunk drivers account for 12 percent of the total driver fatalities in the 16-20 age group, a decrease from 16 percent in 2015.
